Dear Me國(미국),

 Principle of Research

Principle of Research, when you hear this name of the class,
What is the first thing that you can imagine?
Well, I thought of writing a lot of research papers.
But, I was mistaken.
In this class, we do a lot of research, but that research is to build our projects.

Our first project was called the "Card House Project".
I know it sounds very childish, but it's very informational.
Before we all start building the Card House,
We learned how to make a good Hypothesis.
It means a claim that you make BEFORE you test.

For example, this is the Question:
Is there a higher incidence of respiratory illnesses in lower-income communities?
for this question, the Hypothesis will be
"Lower-income communities are more likely to get respiratory illnesses."

To set and Hypothesis, you have to know what is your Variable.
Especially Independent variables and dependent variables.
Independent Variable is the variable that you manipulate(change),
and Dependent Variable is the variable that changes(maybe not) as a
result of manipulating the independent variable(changing variable).

Then, in the question above, what is the two variables that help us set the hypothesis?
"Respiratory illnesses" is our dependent variable.
Because it may have illnesses and may not have it.
"Lower-income communities" will be our independent variable.
Because incomes vary in a different town.

So today's 🌟KEY TERMS🌟 are
Hypothesis: a claim you make before you test your idea [가설]
Variable: any factor tha can be controlled, manipulated, or measured in an experiement [변수]
Independent Variable: the variable you manipulate [독립변수]
Dependent Variable: changes(maybe not) as result of manipulating
                                  the independent variable(changing variable) [종속변수]
