My Second Challenge in August 2015

Many new things happened in March 2015, but the greatest event was
me, Stella Gyurin Kim running for Class President.
It was my first event in school.
Before, I never thought about "CLASS PRESIDENT"?!
But I wanted to challenge myself and help my class friends.
So I ran for it!

Well, I was very, very nervous!
Standing and speaking in front of many students were very difficult.
My legs were shaking and my heart was pumping very FAST!
But I still tried my best.

I gave my best try, but I didn't win...
I think I didn't win because my classmates didn't know me.
Almost all the boy-students didn't know me, too.
I only had 4 friends from my 2nd grade class, so I was a new student.
I was a little sad, but my 3rd grade teacher told me I have a second chance
in August. So I felt better! :)

My English teacher told me about Hillary Rodham Clinton.
She is President Bill Clinton's wife, also known for U.S. 67th Secretary of State.
She ran for 2008 U.S. President, but lost to President Barack Obama.
If she won, Hillary would be the 1st woman president!
Well, in 2016, U.S. needs to pick a new president and
Hillary Clinton is one of the most popular candidate.

Like Hillary Clinton, I will not give up!
I will work with my teacher and make great friendship with my classmates.
Stella Gyurin Kim can do it and so can you!

IGM Genesis MUSICAL

My team Genesis is practicing dance and musical for trip to China in May.
We are very excited because it's going to be our first trip to China together!
Remember my first trip to China?
Yes! That is where we are going~~!!

We will meet our 30 Chinese friends, so it will be awesome!
These friends are important because IGM is supporting and praying for them.
I didn't meet all of them, but this time I will, so I'm very happy.

So, my team is practicing a lot!
I am also practicing 3 to 4 days a week... wow~ it's hard!
But, it's alright because this is for God and my friends in China.

Dance was always hard for me, but thanks to God and IGM Genesis

I got to be a better dancer and my body is flexible now!
I will show you my dance moves soon!! HA~ HA~ HA~~~ :)

(Can you find me?!?! Where am I?!?!)

Love Food Truck

On my last week of vacation, my friends and I volunteered for 'LOVE Food Truck',
where we delivered food for very old grandmothers and grandfathers.
It was my first time volunteering for this organization and it was really fun!
My mom didn't come with me, but I was okay because I was with my church family.

                                                        ( Here are my friends! :) )

I woke up at 8 am and arrived around 9 am.
I met my church pastor, small group teacher, and friends, then we went to the food truck.
The ladies passed the food tray to us and we took the tray to the grandparents.
I volunteered until 1 pm.
But, I was not tired because I was very happy to help grandparents.
Also, the grandparents always said, "Thank you" when I helped them.

                                                        (Waiting in line~)

I want to volunteer again because it is always good to help people.
I also felt great because I can love and care for grandparents.

                                                             (Here I come~)

I really want to volunteer again, so who wants to come with me?!?!
Let's go together!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! :)

3rd Grade in Korea & 3rd Grade in U.S. (Video!!!)

This week is my first week as a 3rd grader and I like it!
I have about 15-16 textbooks and I think it's a lot!~~
I never thought 3rd grade would have this much work.

I already experienced 3rd grade in America, so I thought I would do better.
Well, English is really, really, really easy because we are learning ABC song and "Hi, Good Morning, and Good Afternoon!"
Math is pretty good because I already learned it in America.
But, other subjects like Social Studies and Science are different.

The sad thing is...RECESS time!!
In Korea, it's only 10 minutes, but in America, 15 minutes.
I need 5 minutes more to get ready for my next class.

But the happy thing is...LUNCH time!!
In Korea, it's 50 minutes, but in America, 40 minutes.
I really like it!! :)

Now, I want to talk about homework.
In Korea, I only have 1 HW, like writing a diary or solving math problems.
But in America I had 6-7 HW every night, like two math worksheets, one English worksheet, one grammar worksheet, one worksheet for social studies, and one for science.
It was a lot of work, but it really helped me.

Well, I can't really pick which country is better, but I like both!
I will do my best as a 3rd grader and always be kind to my teachers and friends.
