Retreat at Ganghwa Island

Thank you for watching our music video,
it was only a preview, but it was great!
After filming the music video, we were so tired and cold, so we went to go eat.

Guess what we ate?
We ate at a shabu shabu buffet.

My friends and I ate so much!
We were ready to play again!

After lunch, we went to Ganghwa Island.
Then we had greatest time with our God and friends!
All glory to God for a safe trip.
Here is our retreat video, please enjoy!

KIM-CHI

Happy Thanksgiving...
in U.S.A.!

Today is the day to eat turkey for Americans!
I love to eat turkey~

Here is a picture of Thanksgiving feast!

However, in Korea, it is time to make kim-chi!!!
Every fall or winter season, many Koreans make kim-chi with their family.
Well, last year, my family didn't make kim-chi, so my grandmother gave us kim-chi.
This year, the whole family made kim-chi!

It was really exciting!

The first reason why Koreans make kim-chi in November or December is because of its culture. Kim-chi is our traditional food. It is the most popular food in Korea!
I love to eat kim-chi because my last name is Kim!
Just kidding~ :)

The second reason why kim-chi is made during the cold season is to keep it fresh.
Long time ago, there was no refrigerator, so the only way to store vegetables was to put them underground. This way, Koreans could enjoy fresh and crunchy kim-chi until spring.

Is you family making kim-chi this year?

Please let me know and post a picture of your family if you can!

Stay warm and don't get sick!
God bless you all! <3

My First Christian Musical

Oh~ it's getting chilly, please be warm and healthy.
My family is doing great, and I hope yours is too. :)

I've been to musicals before, but never to a Christian musical. Well, thanks to I.G.M., I had the chance to experience my very first Christian musical. I went with Team Genesis friends and overall, it was such a great experience.

This musical was called "Paul" and the story is about Paul's journey as a missionary and a Christian leader. His real name was Saul, but changed to Paul because after he met Jesus, his life and everything about him completely changed. After that, he became the most famous missionary and built many churches in Europe and Asia. The most important thing about is that he loved Jesus and he dedicated his life for the gospel.

I cried.
And I cried again.

I cried when Jesus appeared to Saul and He changed him forever.
At that moment, I thought that Jesus really loves everyone.
The second time I cried was when Saul, now Paul, preached to the church of Corinthians.
The sacrifice and love that Paul had for the church members were tremendous.

I was very satisfied with this musical and learned a lot about the history of Christianity.
I will do my best to love and serve others like what Paul did.

Hope you have a blessed weekend and stay safe!
God bless you!

I hope you enjoy your weekend with your family!

Today I am very happy to introduce my Team Genesis's 4th music video called "1, 2, 3 Praise!" We practiced for about 10 months and filmed the music video during the hot summer.
It was so hot, we thought we were going to melt!
My team worked very hard and tried our best.
Our sweats and passion made this music video possible!

I especially want to thank Pastor James for making this awesome video.
Of course God made everything work for His glory.
Thank you God! This is for You!

Movie Review

Howdy everyone,

Thank you for visiting my blog.
I hope you enjoy reading my post.

Today I want to introduce a movie that I have recently watched with my friends.
This movie is called "Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" directed by Tim Burton.
When you look at the poster, it looks really scary.
You can be frightened by the characters because they look spooky.
However, it's not that scary!

Ms. Peregrine is a nice lady who could change to a bird. But Dr. Golan doesn't think so.
So he tries to catch her and he succeeds.
Poor Ms. Peregrine!
But Jacob and his friends save her by killing the monsters with magic!
Now, Ms. Peregrine and the kids are safe~
Are you curious?
You just need to watch the movie!

I give this movie 4 stars!

Go ahead and watch this movie with your family or friends this weekend!

A Book Review by Stella Gyurin Kim

Happy autumn, everyone!
Autumn is a great season to read books because the weather isn't hot or cold,
so people can stay home and read a good book.

These days, I'm reading a fantasy fiction called The Time Wreccas by Val Tyler.
My school friend introduced this book to me. I told her that I like to read books,
so she told me this book was great.
She let me borrow it and I finished reading it.
In the beginning, I couldn't really understand the story, but as I began to read the next series, I finally understood the background of this story.

Basically, this story is about two worlds: Guardian and Underworld.
The Guardians can't fight and don't like to fight, but the Wreccas from the Underworld love to fight. The Guardians need to change the time clock every 100 years, but the Wreccas don't know about this. Well, the Wreccas need light and they knew that the time clock had a lot of light in it. So they try to steal the time clock from the Guardians.
A girl from the Wrecca went to the Guardians and stole the time clock from them.

I thought the Guardians were South Koreans and the Wreccas were North Koreans.
The Wreccas don't know how important the time clock is, but they just take it for their selfishness. As I am reading the second part of this book, I like it more and more.

I hope you enjoy reading this book and please let me know if it's good!

Fair Game

Hello, everyone! :)
Long time no see!
Stella Gyurin Kim is back!
I had a really nice summer vacation and I hope you did, too.
Now that summer is over, it's time to write again.
I wish everyone a great health and happiness.

Do you remember Sports Day?

We got really excited because we didn't study at all!
Also, we got presents and the lunch menu was really great.
But the best thing was playing different kinds of sports.

Well, everything was great, but there was a little problem, so all my teammates
were really upset. It happened when we were running the last race.
It was the famous relay race! In order to win, everyone must run fast and pass the baton
properly. It is a team sport, so not a single player can make a mistake.
My team was running really well, so all of us were happy.
Suddenly a girl from the white team pushed my teammate, so she fell down.
We, the blue team, were so angry! We began to shout, "What are you doing?! Why did you push her?!"
While we were yelling, our teammate got up and started to run again. She tried her best, but lost.
However, we still won the relay race! We became 1st place.
We were happy, but still upset.

So, our team went to the teacher and told her what happened.
But our teacher said it was okay because our team won the relay race anyways.
At that moment, I thought it was unfair.
Winning or losing is very important, but the most important rule is to play fair game.
This is a true sportsmanship.
The teacher called the girl and told her to apologize to our teammate.
And she did.

Our team felt better after she apologized and we were okay.

It was my first time feeling this kind of emotion. I've never thought of this kind of situation, but through this race, I've realized that I should also be fair and honest person. Whenever I swim and compete, I will remember to be a real player with real skills.

Family Trip to Byeon-San

Hello,everyone!

Today is the second week of July.
I am so excited because this month is my birthday!
But to make things better, it is my summer vacation!!

Did everyone go on a family trip?
Well, the Kim Family went to Byeon san-Ban do for 2 nights and 3 days.
Be-Yeo is a great place to learn history.
To make things more fun, I went with Kevin's family.

We rented a van for 7 people.
We rode the car for about 4 hours.
It was a little boring, but Kevin and Justin were there, so it was okay.

First,
I went to Chaeseokgang.I rode segway to go Chaeseokgang .
I rode Segway to go to Cheasokgang.
Chaeseokgangis marine cliff, and it look like pile of book.
It was so pretty so I felt I was not in Korea~

Second,
I went to Gom-So Salt Field.
This salt field is very special because it's high in minerals and the cleanest in Korea.
So my mom bought a big bag of salt.
I was proud of Korea.

Third,
I went to Na-So temple
This place has two 1,000 years old trees.
The trees were so cool, but there were too many stores, so it was very noisy.

The last place that we went is... water park!
This water park was in our hotel.
I rode the water slides 4 times.
It was so fun!
After I went to my room.
It was long and tiring day, but it was an exciting adventure.

P.S.
Please look forward to our Part 2 of the trip!

2016 Swimming Competition

Hello, everyone!

Today is the last day of June 2016.
Can you believe it?
I can't. It seems like 2016 is going fast.
Soon it will be 2017.
I wish everyone will live a life full of happiness!
It's really summer now, drink a lot of water and don't argue. Hahaha^^

Few weeks ago, I had a swimming competition in Incheon.
It was for students up to high school. As an elementary students, I was the only student in Buma Elementary School. So it was really important for me to do well.

This time I competed in two categories: crawl and breaststroke.
I really like breaststroke the best, so I came in as 1st place!
Crawl stroke is not bad, but not my favorite. But by God's grace, I won 3rd place!
Crawl stroke isn't my strongest, but God helped me to push through.

I practiced for about a month for this competition. I had couple of injuries, but God gave me the health and courage to overcome difficulties.
As this is my first competition for 2016, I had a great start.
I pray that I continue to be humble and grateful.

My Dad Never Stops Riding

Greetings from Stella Gyurin Kim!

It is very hot these days, I hope everyone is healthy and...

stay cool~ :)

Today, I want to write about my awesome dad.
My dad always works hard for our family and never stops loving us.
I want to dedicate this page to my lovely and handsome dad!

My dad is a cyclist. So, I'm so proud of him because he always does his best for his family. He has been cycling for more than 15 years! He started before I was born!
OMG~ You can see how hard he practiced and how determined he was to be successful. He never gave up cycling for his family.
I really respect him.

So, for the first time I went to the cycling center with my family.
It was really cool because I got to see how and where my dad works.
I was surprised to see different bicycles. I've never seen them before.
Thinking that my dad rides these cool bicycles, it made me really happy!

I want to tell my dad, "Thank you very much for your hard work! Thank you for not giving up! I'm proud of you and I love you very much!"

Pastor James's Ordination

Hi everyone,
I was glad to hear that you enjoyed I.G.M. Team Genesis's 3rd music video.
My team will work harder for God's glory.

For those who don't know, all the music videos were made by Team Genesis's pastor, James Park. God has given him a great talent, which is making music videos. He has never learned before, but for God and Team Genesis, he has worked very hard.
So I would like to dedicate this week's post to him. :)

Few weeks ago, Pastor James was ordained at Ivy Global Mission Church. As an I.G.M. ambassador, I attended his ordination. I wanted to do something special for him, so my mom and I decided to wear han-bok. We wanted to show him that we appreciate and care for him.

It was my first time attending an ordination. It was a very holy and special worship I have never seen that many pastors gathered in one place! My job was to pass out the worship bulletins to the guests and greet Pastor James's families and pastors. Also, I helped my mom when she needed me. It was a special moment and I had a great time. Thank you Pastor James for letting me experience a holy worship. God bless you!

P.S. I want to thank my parents for giving me an early present. Early present?
As you know, I took the HSK Level 3 exam and... glory to GOD! I passed Level 3!
I guess my mom knew that I was going to pass the exam, so bought a new han-bok for me. I really passed, so I don't need to give my han-bok back! Hahaha~~ :D

Thank you very much dad and mom! I love you~~~

Ivy Global Mission Team GENESIS Music Video #3

Hello,
is everyone having fun?
I'm having a great time with my family.
Now it is summer, so get ready to wear shorts.

Everyone, did you see our Team Genesis's first and second music videos?
Did you like it?
I hope you did because our third music video is finally out!

Are you excited to see it? I always get excited when Team Genesis's new music video is out. My mom saw it the music video about 4-5 times, but I saw it 10 times!
Even though I see it again and again, I never get tired of watching it.
Team Genesis's music video is that awesome!

The song is called 'Show Jesus' by Jamie Grace. We practiced for about a year and really enjoyed dancing to this song. This time the music video is slightly different from the past two music videos because we act for the first time! It was a little hard because acting is not easy, but we really tried hard. We actually wrote all the skits and organized the characters and parts. So we are really proud of us! Hahaha~ :)

I want to give a shout out to GOD for helping our team and teachers. GOD is the reason why we dance and sing, all for His glory. Without GOD, we won't be here. I also want to thank Pastor James Park for making this music video happen. Without Pastor James, we won't see this awesome music video. Pastor James, you are very talented and GOD has given you knowledge and wisdom to make this fabulous music video.
Thank you all for supporting Team Genesis!

Now, I would like to present our music video....

I pray that you will be blessed through this music video. May GOD keep you and comfort you this week. Please pray for IGM Team GENESIS.
God bless you!

IGM Team Genesis Spring Retreat "Living Water"

 Long time no blog everyone!
I hope you are happy with your family and everything is well.
I have been very busy for the last few weeks.
Honestly, I feel a little tired, but I'm grateful because I have the health to do everything.
Well, last week was a super-duper awesome weekend because it was a 5-day weekend!
Due to Children's Day, my church (Ivy Global Mission) went to Paju for youth retreat.
It was really great because we all finished reading Book of JOHN, recorded music video, and God's  grace was upon us and our worship. So far, this was the best retreat!
All glory to GOD!
Team Genesis asked a lot of questions regarding the Bible, ate a lot of bulgogi and midnight snacks, practiced talent show, and danced "Not Backing Down" many times.
These moments were graceful.

Not only did I laugh a lot, but also CRIED a LOT!!
I prayed for my family and my future dream.
But I cried so much when I saw my mom's special message.
I knew it before, but I realized deeply again how much my mom loves me.
I was so grateful. Thank you mom for all that you do for us.

If you come to Team Genesis, you MUST do a talent show. If you don't, you are NOT cool~
My team's name was JOHN and we did a skit about Moses and Israelites.
It was so fun practicing and acting with my friends. Here is a video clip of us, hope you enjoy!

Jesus Christ is the only One who can give "Living Water" and when we drink from Him, we will not be spiritually thirsty. Instead, we will find true hope and the reason to live. I pray that you will be filled with the living water.
God bless you all!

New Worship Dance for Team Genesis

"Happy Spring-Summer, everyone!"

It is spring, but it is so hot, I would like to call it "spring-summer"!
Please watch out for Asian Dust, I hope you are all healthy.

Recently, I am very busy because many things are happening all at once.
I have Chinese speech contest, HSK test, and also learning a new dance.
I can't do it, but if God helps me, I can do everything.

The two hardest things for me are HSK writing and the new dance.
Chinese characters are really difficult because not only are there lots of lines,
but the top and bottom meanings are different.
So you need to know two vocabulary words for one character.
Sounds confusing, right?
I feel nervous because the test is this Saturday, so please pray for me! I desperately need your prayers.

The second thing is dancing, especially Hip-Hop!
Team Genesis has a new worship dance, it is called "Not Backing Down"
and it's so difficult.

Here is the song for you to listen, what do you think?
Please write your comment below.

I will need to practice for many hours. Please pray that I will overcome my weakness and be victorious in Jesus. I can do it! Have a blessed weekend my family and friends.
God bless you!

Republic of Korea English Speech Contest

Happy Spring!
It really feels like spring, don't you think?
Please watch out for the yellow dust!

On this spring day, I am so happy and grateful because something great happened to me! Last Saturday, my friends and I went to Seoul to compete in English speech contest.
We were excited and prepared for it.

Last Friday was Good Friday, the night when Jesus died on the Christ for our sins.
It was my first time going to church for morning service.
I woke up around 5 am and came to church to pray and worship.
I didn't feel tired at all because I slept really early.
I prayed for my family, but I really prayed for my speech contest the next day.
I asked GOD for help and to be with me every second. I also promised that I'll believe and love GOD until the end.

Well, GOD wanted me to keep my promise, so I did really well.
All glory to GOD!
I won 1st place!

I want to thank GOD for helping me, my awesome parents, and teachers for supporting and loving me. I won't give up and live for GOD's glory.

Now, I have to get ready for Chinese speech contest!
Thank You GOD for making me busy this year! :)

I wanted to show my parents how well they have supported me.
So, I just translated my English letter to Chinese (without writing Pinyin or memorizing).

Thank you dad and mom!
I love you so much! <3
